Good Vibes, Good Life: How Self-Love Is the Key to Unlocking Your Greatness
By: Vex King
Why hello there…. May. Welcome to the month of bringing awareness, education and support within the mental health community. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. In this community this is a moment to celebrate mental health in a way that cultivates healthy dialogues (yes even conflicted dialogues can be healthy too), giving an opportunity for learning and understanding as well as gaining more information about resources and new research within the field. There are many directions our topic could explore for this month, mental health is to say at least all encompassing and comes in many variations. One of the most basic concepts of coping with mental health is gaining skills in self love and finding ways to unlock living a life that you could only dream of. A person’s ability to self love and find long lasting happiness again is a skill that covers mostly all mental health concerns and issues. What is even more beautiful about this concept is that any person, at any age and at any time in life can either take the leap in their journey with self love or revisiting self love in a different era of your life. I’ll say it again, there is no time like the present.
While I admit, it was hard to choose this month’s reading, I go back to a classic that proves true again at any stage and one that should be revisited in different eras of your life. That is Vex King’s, Good Vibes, Good Life: How Self Love is the Key to Unlocking Your Greatness, where the reader gains inspiration and motivation to be better than they were yesterday. The author places importance on self care and prioritizing wellbeing by incorporating healthy and effective lifestyle habits. Within the book you will find sayings to incorporate into life such as “Technology is a tool, not a substitute for living”. The goal for this is to encourage each person in choosing a habit that will positively impact their life. When you want to pick up your phone, remember this mantra and CHOOSE to go watch the sunset or look up at the stars. Practice meditation, READ, stretch. The possibilities are endless. This book gives the encouragement to love yourself enough to make those choices a reality.
